Holiday Break? No More!
My nightmare will officially starts on this Saturday, coz its school holiday & yet I have to make sure YS has his daily revision done plus attending some holiday enrichment camps in the school. I really don't understand why the school can't have the exams before the holiday?

Toilet Training In Progress
YQ is turning 5 this year & I know it's sort of late to start toilet training her at night, but I keep telling myself that it's better to be late than never right? Hubby always nag at me to toilet train our kids as early as possible but I'm pretty sure many FTWM out there will agree with me that time is never enough & to juggle between our work in the day & family after work is so tiring (well...unless our energy level is super high & never feel tired at all).
Anyway for YS, I rely on the childcare centre to toilet trained him during the daytime. He will wear training diaper during night time until he is able to control his bladder without wetting himself in bed anymore, that probably ended when he was about 5 too. I did not need to wake him up at night & he just stopped automatically.
YQ has already been toilet trained by the school during the daytime & usually I will let her wear training diaper during night time. During the Initial training stage I will get up like a zombie in the middle of the night & wake her up from her sleep to go and urine. Sometimes when I'm too tired, she will wake me up instead & tells me that she wets her bed. Therefore I will be the one changing her bed sheet in the middle of the night & dump the soiled bed sheet into the washing machine to wash *faint*.
I realised the recent waterproof mattress protectors which I bought were not very suitable to use as the material (TPU film) were easily damaged when I put into the dryer to dry. Thus urine was able to leak through the waterproof mattress protector and dirty the mattress. In the end, I let YQ resumed back to training diaper again in case of hiccups. I searched frantically almost everywhere for a suitable mattress protector online & managed to find one type to my liking (which I waited for a month for the stocks to arrive *_*). This saddle style mattress protector from bumwear is so convenient that I can just put it on top of the normal mattress cover & if she ever wets the bed again, I just need to remove the top part & replace with a clean one. I bought 2 so that I can interchange both whenever its needed.
At the same time I also try to use the reward system for encouragement. I will reward her with a star every day if she does not wet her bed. But if she wet herself then the star will be forfeited. For every 10 stars she accumulated, I will reward her with something. So far, she has improved bit by bit everyday.

Chaotic Friday

No Friday night of clubbing with friends, no nice romantic dinner with hubby, no time for manicure appointment....and definately no "me" time till all kiddos go to their dreamland. By that time, I am in my dreamland too :(

Remedies For Curing Mouth Ulcers
I know...mouth ulcers only, no big deal right? But it was a big deal to me this time coz in total I have 5 ulcers at the same time *gross*. In the past, I hardly have any ulcers attack and even if I have, its only 1 or 2 ulcers only. I was in so much pain to even talk to my kiddos that I have to mimic the sound from my mouth for them to guess what I want to convey. Luckily they sort of know what I want to say *smile*.
For myself, I will usually drink oldenlandia water with salt, starfruit juice with salt, barley, green bean soup to cool down the heatiness in my body. Then I will rinse my mouth with salt water & take Vit C drink or pills too. Anyway, I was so desperate to find a cure so I posted my concern on the FB to ask for remedies to cure ulcers, here are some of suggestions I got from the mummies:-
1) Aloe vera gel (must be safe to put in the mouth)
2) Watermelon powder (which you can buy from chinese medical hall)
3) Mouth wash (to kill the germs)
4) Propolis
5) Vit B12
6) Salt (apply it directly onto the ulcers if you have the guts to try it)
7) Manuka Honey with UMF of 16+
8) Lysin (take in the long run & reduce the occurence of ulcers break out)
9) Rub with chilli (er....if you're really daring to try)
My ulcers are getting better & will tell myself not to be so tam jiak (greedy) to eat so much chips in future.

SMB Gathering
I was glad that I was able to make it to the SMB gathering this time round & managed to see most of the mummy bloggers in person. Initially I was worried that there will be awkward silence between us coz we usually joke & discuss issues on FB, but to my surprised all the mummies were very friendly & easy to talk to. Love this bunch of mummies to the max & thank you Adeline for the lovely present, very sweet of her to handmade all these by herself *heart you lot lot* :)
Lastly, a very big thank you to Rachel (who happens to be my ex-Uni mate) for creating this group & organised the group to meet up for interaction. It was a meaningful gathering with all the information shared among us, hoping for more to come soon too.

Guest Blogger - Viewing Cancer Through Colored Glasses
Life is so unpredictable & fragile. I wouldn't dare to imagine myself to be in the position whereby I'm left with so little time & so many issues to face. What would you do if you know if you have only xx amount of time left in your life and growing children by your side who constantly need your attention & care all the time? I'm honoured to have Mummy Heather to share with us about her life battling with cancer. I really admire her courage and her positive thinking in life. Here is her story:
Throughout my life, those who know me best have accused me of viewing life through rose-colored glasses. I’ve always been the type of person who sees the glass as half-full, an incurable optimist who sees the best in even the hardest times. Optimism is a trait that has served me well, and I have never benefited more from my rosy outlook than when I was diagnosed with cancer as a young mother.
I received a diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma on November 21, 2005 when my baby girl was only three months old. What should have been the happiest time of my life was shattered by three shocking words, “you have cancer.” The news was devastating, but I soon realized that I had to make a choice: either give up, wallow in self-pity and curse God, or face my diagnosis head on and fight. I chose to put on my rose-colored glasses and fight for my life so that I could raise my little girl, as any mother would do.
My physician, one of the world’s best mesothelioma doctors gave me hope that I would survive. With my resolve firmly in place, I chose to face the most difficult situation of my life with humor and optimism. When surgery to remove my tumor was scheduled for Groundhog Day, I named my tumor Punxsutawney Phil. Groundhog Day became Lungleavin Day, commemorating removal of my lung.
As I faced surgery and treatment with as much humor as I could muster, I vowed to help others facing the same diagnosis. I wanted to give others the same hope that helped me fight to survive. Since my recovery, I have worked to live up to that vow. In doing so, I have met wonderful people whom I would not have met without my cancer diagnosis.
At the time of my diagnosis, cancer seemed to be the worst possible fate. Yet my life has changed for the better in many ways because of my experiences with such a serious disease. I have faced a devastating disease and survived, learning to rise above fear and fight rather than resign myself to being a victim. In working to help others, I have met many amazing, strong and passionate people.
Each year I have a party on Lungleavin Day as a celebration of life, of victory over fear and of the good that arises from an otherwise bad situation. I am grateful for my new friends, fellow mesothelioma warriors committed to raising awareness of the disease that changed my life. My journey through cancer has given my life more purpose, and inspired me to work to give others the hope they need.

[Product Review] - Ultimate Colla-gen
Personally I do drink collagen but not on a regular basis, I guess its part of women's nature by wanting to look & feel good for their overall wellbeing. I tried brands that have strong fishy after-taste but I still drink for the sake of vanity :) , as people always say "No Pain, No Gain" (although the pain is not really applicable in this case..haha!). I received a box of Korean Ultimate Colla-gen samples to try. The best part is after I mixed with my favourite yogurt drink, there is a tinge of blueberry smell & has no fishy after-taste.
Here are some facts about Collagen:
Do you know that Collagen occupies up to 30% of the total protein in body found in the skin, bone, joint, cartilage, blood vessels, tendons and teeth? As we age, around the age of 25, collagen levels start to drop, at about 1.5% every year. I was quite shocked to know that by the age of 45, the collagen levels in your body will have reduced by up to 30%. No wonder our aging bodies will start to feel body aches & pains. Wrinkles and spots will start to appear on our skins.
Product Info:
1) Ultimate Colla-gen caters to people of all age groups. There are 2 formulations available:-
For individuals who are in their 20s till their 40s, ultimate Colla-gen Plus nurtures skin, hair and nails.
Fod individuals who are in their Golden YEars, Ultimate Colla-gen Gold nurtures joints, bones and skin.
2) Ultimate Colla-gen represents an unprecedented advance in Collagen Science offering Collagen Hydrolysate of the lowest molecular size. Its nano-sized Collagen molecules ensure that it can be more easily absorbed and utilised by the body.
3) Ultimate Colla-gen presents the next generation in Collagen supplement, offering the synergistic benefits of 7 BioActive, BioDiversified, Balanced blend of Nano-sized multi nutriend in one holistic dietary supplement pack.
4) No preservatives. No trace metals. No sugar. No empty promises.
5) It is developed and blended in Korea according to stringent korean good manufacturing practices (GMP) regulations for health supplements.
From May 2012 onwards, Ultimate Colla-gen will be available at Nishino Pharmacies and Robinsons. You can hop down to any of these retail outlets to purchase Ultimate Colla-gen.
